Practical steps to deal with alcohol addiction (I am 84)
Dear Stanton,
Can you provide me with some practical steps to deal with alcohol addiction (I am 84).
John
Hi John,
You’re certainly going after the big questions!
I’m wondering where you’re coming from, age 84. Is this about you? Someone you know? A child or a grandchild?
Because the Life Process Program is centered around people, who they are, their feelings, their situations.
We ask tons of questions in LPP. A coach would certainly be interested in your life history (which you would write about). Gosh, I’m imagining that you must have seen a lot of things, had a lot of successes— perhaps along with some failures. If you were an LPP participant, we would explore both with you. Of course, that’s something about which you can be reflective on your own
If this is about a child of yours— or a grandchild— we would be on a different life scale. For one thing, we’d ask how they feel they’re doing. If bad, would it be possible to speak with them? If this is about your feelings on their situation, then we’d like to focus on you, the person whom we’re dealing with. And that’s a person, at age 84, still alive and seeking answers, whom we instinctively feel has a lot to offer— to yourself, to us, and to the people you know and love!
