Frequently Asked Questions

All your questions answered.

  • Why should I choose an online program? Can an online program really work?

Yes, there is evidence to support the idea that online interventions can be as effective as face-to-face ones,. A number of studies have shown that there are in fact a lot of advantages to an online approach:

    • Accessibility and Continuity: An article in World Psychiatry highlighted that internet interventions have the potential to bridge the gap in the care for various mental health issues because of their scalability and ability to provide continuous support.
    • Anonymity and Privacy:A study in BMC Psychiatry underscored that one of the reasons people prefer online interventions is the ability to maintain privacy and avoid stigma associated with seeking mental health treatment.
    • Convenience: According to an article published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, many participants in online interventions find it more convenient due to the elimination of travel times, flexible scheduling, and the ability to access materials any time they need.
    • Comfort with Online Communication:Having come through the recent pandemic, there’s a growing comfort with and preference for online modes of communication, including for therapeutic or supportive purposes. This is evident in the rise of telehealth services and platforms that cater specifically to online health consultations.

An online program is ideal for people who desire anonymity, privacy, convenience, and easy access.  It is a great choice for people who have a busy schedule, who are limited in their ability to physically attend a traditional program, or who are simply more comfortable with online communication.  The Life Process Program® is not intended to replace traditional therapy and/or medical advice.

  • Is the Life Process Program® available worldwide?

Yes. One of the main reasons Dr. Peele decided to adapt his Life Process Program® for online use is so that it would be available worldwide. The program is managed entirely online, so you can work on it whether you are at home, at work or away travelling.

  • Is the Life Process Program® a 12-Step program like AA or NA?

No, it is not. Though you may experience similarities between the processes, the Life Process Program® is fundamentally different from a 12-step program. First, we do not believe you are powerless. Just the opposite, in fact, we believe that you are the only person with the power to change your addictive behavior. Other differences include the fact that we do not require that you surrender to a higher power and that we do not require you to attend meetings for the rest of your life in order to maintain change.

  • Has the Life Process Program® ever been tested on alcoholics or addicts?

Yes, it has. The Life Process Program® was utilized in residential treatment centers before Dr. Peele decided to adapt the program to be offered online. While being used in treatment centers the Life Process Program® consistently produced a success rate better than 65%.

  • When will I be able to start the program?

You are able to start once you pay for the program. Since your email address serves as your username and you choose a password during the sign up process you are given full access to the program and your account once you make the purchase.

  • How do I arrange appointments when I’m in a different country than my coach?

You will see your coach’s availability schedule will appear in your local time zone once that is set in your profile. Our coaches schedule their availability to cover multiple time zones and they are happy to work with individual client schedules to accommodate time differences. If you don’t see any time slots that work for you send your coach a message and they will work something out with you. Once you schedule an appointment you coach will send a message confirming the details of the appointment and asking for any additional information they may need to make it happen.

  • Do I have to be from the US to be in the program?

Not at all. The Life Process Program is available worldwide. One of the main reasons Dr. Peele decided to adapt his Life Process Program for online use is so that it would be available worldwide.

  • What sort of techniques does the Life Process Program® use?

The Life Process Program® is primarily considered an educational program in the bibliotherapy model. Bibliotherapy is a sort of guided self help and has been rated as one of the most effective methods for combating addictive behaviors.  The Life Process Program® also introduces the client to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Community Reinforcement And Family Therapy (CRAFT), and Social Network Therapy.

  • Why do we not believe in the theory of addiction being a disease?

Despite a widespread conception in society that addiction is a disease, there are no conclusive studies proving this belief.  Treating addiction like a disease removes personal responsibility from the equation.  We strive to reinforce that you are in control of your life and can change your behavior.  For more information on this topic from Dr. Peele please click here.
